Characteristics of Effective Learning and Schemas

Course Aim: This introductory course offers an overview of the characteristics of effective learning and schemas.

Course Information: The EYFS defines characteristics of effective learning as

  • Playing and exploring - children investigate and experience things and 'have a go'
  • Active learning - children concentrate and keep trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements
  • creating and thinking critically - children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas and develop strategies for doing things
This course will provide guidance for practitioners and key person about what the characteristics are and how observations and assessments can link into these as well as EYFS areas.
