Do you want to gain the skills to work with children or do you know someone who does? Are you already working with children and want to go further? Through our membership and excellent working relationship with employers PATA can help set you on the right path and help you take the next step on your childcare learning journey.

Adult and community education is at the heart of PATA training. PATA offers a wide range of short courses and workshops for personal, or continued professional development. Our high quality training programme supports:

  • parents and carers to support the growing and changing needs of young families
  • volunteers to gain new knowledge, skills and ideas to volunteer in your local group
  • staff to support and manage the day-to-day activities of childcare settings

Whatever your needs PATA has the course for you.

Our training is available to PATA members at preferential rates: parents, carers, committee, staff and volunteers from PATA settings are all PATA members.

We have been working hard to write new course content to make our programme content fresh and up to date and have some fantastic courses on offer.

New Courses - we have three exciting new courses on offer this term. Principles of Play, Introduction to Characteristics of Effective Learning and Characteristics of Effective Learning. Have a look at the training programme what these great courses have to offer.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Courses - a series of linked sessions that will take place throughout the year which can be accessed separately or as a series. Suitable for Early Years SENDCOs and all those interested in supporting young children with special needs. For details on which SEN courses will run this term see page 7 of our Summer 17 training programme.

Introduction to Children's Play - This ever popular course is for parents wanting to learn how to create better play opportunities with their children, and anyone who is working with, or wants to work with, children, whether as a volunteer, or for those planning to take a childcare qualification. This practical, hands-on course aims to raise awareness of the value of learning through play for young children and to gain skills to provide appropriate play activities.  This term we are running this course over 3 days.

PATA also runs a series of e-learning courses - see Artemis pages here

We continually review and develop the courses on offer and welcome suggestions.
